COMMISSIONS

Once the design and cost has been agreed between The Rock Hound and the commissioning party a proforma invoice for the 50% non-refundable deposit will be issued.

When your bespoke piece is completed you will be issued with your final invoice and payment must be received in full before The Rock Hound will post your commission.

DELIVERY

If an item is in stock we will send it out within the next 3 business days. However if an item isn’t in stock, since all the pieces are handmade, it will take us between 5 to 14 business days. If you would like to know if a certain item is in stock or an estimated delivery time please give us a call.

FAIRMINED

The Fairmined Gold we use in our collections comes from artisanal and small-scale mines (ASM). Fairmined is an initiative whose label certifies gold of responsible origin, empowered responsible artisanal and small-scale mining organisations. It guarantees that it is a traceable gold, extracted with the best mining practices aimed at preserving the environment, and supports the development of artisanal and small-scale mining communities who meet world leading standards for responsible practices. Find out more about Fairmined Gold here.

FAIRMINED VERMEIL

We use Fairmined Gold for our vermeil plating. Gold vermeil is made in a similar way to gold plating but is considered superior as it is made up of a much thicker layer of gold. Due to this thicker gold layer, gold vermeil is a durable and longer lasting option for jewellery.

FAIRTRADE

We have used gold certified through the Fairtrade Foundation as a licensee for Fairtrade gold. For more information as to why we choose to use Fairtrade Gold please click here

HALLMARKING

All our pieces are assayed (tested for purity) at the London Assay Office and are hallmarked to verify this. They are also struck with our makers mark to validate origin. Additionally, if the item is made with Fairtrade Gold it is struck with the Fairtrade Gold logo to verify authenticity.

MAILING LIST

If you would like to be on our mailing list please complete the form on our contact page and we will keep you updated with the occasional email if there is an upcoming show or inviting you to a sale. We collect the information that you give to us when you sign up to our list and we promise to never share your information with anyone else in line with GDPR.

ONLINE DISPUTE RESOLUTION

All businesses which trade online must provide a link to the Online Dispute Resolution. This allows consumers to file disputes online including disputes where the trader and consumer are in different countries.

PACKAGING

The mulberry paper that is used for the pebble shaped boxes that house our HotRocks, original RockStars and GoldRush collections is made of the best fibre of the mulberry tree. Collecting the fibre does not interfere with the ecosystem as not a single tree has to be cut down; only the shoots are harvested for use while the tree continues to grow. In the processing, the bark is peeled off and the remaining fibre is processed into a pulp, forming the base for several kinds of paper and to bring everything together a natural glue is used. The paper mache boxes are assembled in our partner’s factory in Thailand by workers that are fairly treated and paid well.

We also have an exotic leather range of packaging. To create this material, we work with an Icelandic tannery who are the leading manufacturers in leather from fishskin. The fish leather we use is environmentally friendly in two different ways: it is a bi-product of the fishing industry in Lake Victoria, Tanzania, utilising raw materials that would not otherwise be used; and the production process makes use of renewable hydro and geothermal energy.

Our newest addition to our family of packaging comes in the form of the vegan and sustainable Piñatex material which behaves like leather but is made from pineapple leaf; click here for more info about this new material with a low environmental impact. These gorgeous golden pouches for our RockStars 2019 Trigonal Edits are designed and handmade by us in our East London Studio.
